My Glowing Orange Posted by Hello

Why I'm getting fat...

I was reading Angels and Demons again then came across this sentence:

She saw an orange glow up ahead.

I read it as "She saw an orange glow up ahead." Was temporarily weirded out by a mental image of a glowing orange... hehe

If I were a Sim...
I think I'd be pretty easy to control. These days I'm just hovering around my corner - read book (fun), chat (fun and social), fix stuff. Of course the bladder, energy, hygeine and hunger bars go down so have to tend to those. Otherwise, that's it. Ah the occassional text - but sims don't have cellphones. They do have phones. Just like I do haha I have to answer the phone a lot these days but usually not for me so I feel like I'm some sort of telephone operator / secretary.

Tomorrow I'm off to have lunch with my barkada because it's one of my kabarkadas' birthday treat. In the evening I might have to go somewhere for something my friend wants me to help her with, depends on the transpo... Gosh school is so near already *sigh* have to maximize playing Sims2 haha Otherwise, I was actually a bit weird a while ago and started reading my Psy101 book - wondered if what I was reading would actually be of some use to me for Dev Psy this coming sem.

Books I'll be needing for the coming sem (no titles yet), please lend me if you have? :D
Eco 102 book
Asian History book
Dev Psy book
Personality book
French book?
Sci 10 book - twinnie's lending me this one, thanks!

I got this from Luj ü

My LiveJournal Trick-or-Treat Haul
happy_creek goes trick-or-treating, dressed up as butterfly.
all_talk gives you 19 blue passionfruit-flavoured gummy fruits.
liquidwriter tricks you! You get a 3.5-inch floppy disc.
thecolorpurple tricks you! You lose 9 pieces of candy!
tossthefeathers tricks you! You lose 8 pieces of candy!
happy_creek ends up with 2 pieces of candy, and a 3.5-inch floppy disc.
Go trick-or-treating! Username:
Another fun meme brought to you by rfreebern.

One of the things I like from livejournal is how they can use the friends option. Not all my friends are in lj - most use blogger and I like blogger better (I think...although I hardly use my lj) Some friends I have... all tricking me haha But at least Gen kind enough to give me candy LOL and in real life, Hal would probably give me a diskette haha Luj and Nissy are mean but that's okay, i'd give my candy to them any day ü (aww)

Wow so tired after... Reg-ing. Mom will correct me, "it's Registering." Fine. That's all I did and I slept like a rock on the way back home. Twin's back from Baguio! (finally LOL) and am chatting with Mike about how names invoke a person. Doesn't seem to work LOL but to each his own eh?

Yesterday was an interesting day (as I told Hal Hal). I went to the spa with mum. First we had a "body treatment." Basically they get some kind of lotion with little granules all over you and then you have to rinse it all off. I think my skin is smoother. Maybe even whiter since the treatment's supposed to be whitening. But who knows. Then we had a facial - yes, complete with mask. Too bad I couldn't take a picture whaha but even if I did, I'm certainly not posting a pic of me with a facial mask here. We had a massage to top everything else off, like a cherry hehe Well it's not like anyone would notice if my skin / face is smoother or whiter. I do nyahah

This was after getting grades and regform. I don't like the new system wherein we have to line up separately for the grades and for the regform. It's double the trouble. My grades are great - definitely higher than expected, esp that A in Theo. I got an A in everything except, not surprisingly, Fil and PE (B+ for both). That's the last I'll see of Fil!

So today was reg. I tried to fix my schedule last night, making a list of PEs I like and a list of Sci10 teachers ranked accdg to preference. I didn't get to use either. All the PEs I liked were full and all the Sci10 classes I liked except the class I ranked last were full too. At least I got the French class I want.

I have Angels and Demons hardcopy now ^_^ Thanks shillie *ü* I'm gonna read it again. But have to take care of ADS stuff now. *sigh* lapit na! Dec 10-12. Wanna volunteer to help? PLLEEEEAAAAASEEEE :D hehehe I'll really appreciate it. Non-ADS members can help out too :D

Lookie what I found... an article praising Manila! But only because the peso is so low already. But still! hehehe

Mom sent me an email...

23rd Psalm for Students

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not flunk
He keepeth me from lying down when I should be studying
He leadeth me beside the water cooler for a study break
He restores my faith in study guides
He leads me to better study habits
For my grades' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of borderline grades
I will not have a nervous breakdown
For thou art with me
My prayers and my friends, they comfort me
Thou givest me the answer in moments of blankness
Thou anointest my head with understanding
My test paper runneth over with questions I recognise.
Surely passing grades and flying colours shall follow me
All the days of my examinations
And I shall not have to dwell in this exam hall forever.

Taken from here.

I am now a proud owner of Sims 2 hehe it's a miracle I'm not playing now. Just decided to fix my site a bit. I added something in my site - inspired by Julie!

DLSU visit was okay. Saw my uncle haha and Popoy and Tin and her boyfriend (finally!) and Macy. Met lots of new people (sort of). Generally bummed around and played truth or truth with Julie (wow second time mentioned! haha), Di, Tris, Rod, and Jules.

Halloween party. Ummm no comment. I left early. I made a new friend though... I don't know his name but I decapitated him after capitating him (wwwwhhhhaaaaatttt) hahaha apparently my friend's soph night date now has his own dancing group. He used to be part of the XSquad if I remember right. Saw chatmate Glenn for the first time too (minus seeing his pic).

Was supposed to watch Ladder 49 with mum. She changed her mind so we watched Shark Tale instead hehe ü Ate two pretzels from Auntie Anne's - with choco dip! Yummm. Played Sims 2 when I got home and didn't stop hehehe

So in other words, you won't be seeing me online too often anymore haha this is a weird turn of events. I used to stop using ym / mirc after a break, not during LOL

My mom is funny. She sends me an email with a picture of my cousin's 6-week old daughter attached. Her email:

Look! Like you. Chubby chubby!!! BUT you were fairer!! Fairest of them all!!! (whiter). he he...:)

hahaha LOL

Shark Tale! Posted by Hello

Exceladon was yesterday. I went to school to sign a waiver form and to get my psy101 project. I didn't find the latter. I did get twin's group project and her orals grade (A! *clap clap*). Afterwards I went to the park. I signed up and settled in my booth - basically I had to record the number of situps / pushups / hoolahoop revolutions / jump rope jumps / minutes sitting by the wall. With the exception of the last activity, each individual is given a minute to do as many as possible without getting tangled in the rope or letting the hoop fall. I also ended up taking care of some shootouts although I really don't like it - the thought of getting hit by a ball, scary haha

The obstacle course was really cool. It was a relay that consisted of: 1) tires, 2) finding a peso coin in a container of flour, 3) crawling under a small table with strings zigzagging around and across the table legs, 4) transferring marbles from a bowl to a cup using chopsticks, 5) sack jumping, 6) filling a glass bottle with water from a pail using a sponge and 7) running back to the starting line. HR won! wheeee ^_^

I enjoyed playing with the darts. That's something I have to add to my wishlist. And swinging made me feel like a kid again. I remember mom teaching me how (bend knees, extend knees) at Pili. I also got to bond a bit more with Hawie. I'm glad three of my flockies went - Harry, King and Stephen. Stephen's team even won the men's basketball thing.

After Exceladon, Tris, Ernie, BD, Robert, Rod, Twin and I went to watch Shark Tale. Nice movie haha and as Tristan says "Respect!" Dinner at Dencio's afterwards then went to Fully Booked - Tristan bought a card for Tina. They all stayed awhile at my place to look at the fish.

Something else I've been busy with during sembreak: Shillieness, my new personal site. Wonder how long that's gonna last...

Saturday, October 16, 2004

There's nothing quite like a well-deserved break. Mine started Wednesday at around 1pm. Since then I've been... uh.. eating raisinets hehe I also finished a book by Jeffrey Archer called "Kane & Abel" which made me teary-eyed. And then I went into crying mode haha not because of the book, just the regular crying mode girls have to do I think.

I'm currently into re-doing my website. disappeared because I haven't updated it in so long and even if I wanted to, I lost the password haha that's cause of all the changing email bustle - I decided to switch permanently to gmail.

My 2 aunts, an uncle and a cousin from Florida are in town. I'm the official UCC companion of my uncle now - starting to get tired of the place (his favorite, he goes there everyday and the waitresses know him by name)... and I have to go there again later this afternoon. No wonder I'm getting fat.

Why are they here? Cause my grandfather is in the ICU of Cardinal Santos. Something to do with water retention. Cardinal Sin is in the room next to him. And next to him on the other side is a HS classmates' grandma. Another patient in the ICU is a HS classmate's dad. tsk tsk so many people there... hope they all get well soon.

This coming Monday is the Celadon sports fest. I'm passing by school first to pick up some stuff and then heading over there (sports fest) to take care of one of the booths. On Wednesday is the trip to DLSU - I haven't been there since I took the entrance exam. After that is the Celadon Halloween party. I'm still deciding if I'm going to go in costume. If I do, I'll probably wear the costume I wore to Fran's party hehe just a little recycling. Then again, I might get lazy.

I found this article from yahoo very amusing:
"Lipsticks and false bosoms were weapons of war"

Actually, the most amusing part about that article is:

"When it comes to the opposite sex, males from many species are easily deceived. Male fireflies flirt with penlights. Male turkeys become randy at the mere sight of a fake, female turkey head. Male humans find feminine decoys equally beguiling.

I really enjoy the Oddly Enough section of Y!news. I don't visit it too often cause not too many weird things happen everyday but I do visit the section regularly.

I'm such a sucker for archaeology. I was reading this article and found myself getting teary-eyed.

I should have started studying today. Should have. Meaning I didn't. Instead, I had a haircut, slept while doing my stat paper and played literati and word racer with Mic. Yes, aren't I the most productive?

Anyway, here's something I read in my Friendster Bulletin Board: Made me think a bit. Comments anyone?

1. If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away. If he doesn't want you , nothing can make him stay.
2. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
3. Allow your intuition to save you from heartache.
4. Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be.
5. Slower is better.
6. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.
7. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve, then heck no you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
8. Don't settle.
9. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.
10. Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
11. The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
12 . Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently?
13. Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
14. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up.
15. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.
16. You cannot change a man's behaviors. Change comes from within.
17. Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or a better job.
18. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
19. Never let a man define who you are.
20. Never borrow someone else's man.
21. If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.
22. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
23. All men are NOT dogs.
24. You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two way street.
25. You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute about with your issues before pursuing a new relationship.
26. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals... look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.
27. Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right.
28. Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him - he takes it for granted.
29. Never move into his mother's house.
30. Never co-sign for a man.
31. Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

This is according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
 Posted by Hello

Richter scale
5: Potentially damaging to buildings
6: Capable of causing great destruction
6.3: Equivalent to an atomic bomb
6.5: Widespread damage is usually caused depending on the buildings
8.2: Equivalent to a hydrogen bomb

According to news reports, the earthquake last night was a 6.2 - Despite this, I'm glad no casualties have been reported yet. It was a really strong one and most of my friends were probably still awake. I was asleep but it woke me up! The Chinese lanterns hanging on the ceiling were swinging like Tarzan. Of course I was too lazy to get up..

The first earthquake I remember was a long long time ago. I was playing with water balloons in the garden with my mom and brother I think. When it happened, mom explained to me not to go near the coconut trees hehehe I think this was around the time Mt. Pinatubo erupted. Mom took me out of the house a few days later and then showed me the car was in a blanket of ash.

Since we're talking about disasters anyway, I remember one night around Cory's time when a coup happened. I dunno if it was mum or dad who got me but we did something similar to crawling down the stairs. I know yaya got Jus and even took a peak out the window. We all hid under ama's dressing table for the night. The morning after, there was a bullet stuck on the glass door of the living room. How on earth did that happen. Much later, we found a bullet embedded in the roof.

It really isn't such a boring life...

My random number for next sem is.... 611 @_@;; *cry*
I got a 3.5 in my last Theo long test though - making me the 7th over all the students who got Crisostomo this sem. hehehe
So far, my standing in Psy lec is B+ *sob* and for lab (not including the worksheets yet) is B *cry*
Filipino play yesterday was good. I didn't expect it to be that good. But the LCD didn't work so I just positioned the laptop in front of teacher. *waaaah*
I pray I get exempted from psy 101 finals.

Wednesday, October 6, 2004

Orals and psy 101 presentation was over. Both went pretty well I guess. I think our psy101 show is way better than the Fil finals project we're presenting on Friday - "bahala na." Can you imagine today is the last meeting for Psy101 and 102? I'll super miss Ma'am Jopie.

I ended up getting hooked by Sims 2 this afternoon instead of studying for SA. Now it's 8 and I haven't even started. I just got home around 30 mins. ago. Anyway, before I start stressing, here's an email I got: (forward)

The Kind of Love I Want

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 a.m., when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have sutures (stitches) removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9 a.m. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to be able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation I asked him if he had a doctor's appointment that morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, and that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired about her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease.

As I finished dressing his wound, I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized
him in five years now. I was surprised and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?" He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.” I had to hold back tears as he left. I had goose bumps and thought, “That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither exclusively physical nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

A couple of weeks ago, I got my MBTI results. When I took the test in ICA, I was evaluated to be an INTJ. According to the most recent results, I am an ENTJ now. Hehe! I'm not that much surprised because I know that I really am a lot more outgoing now - certainly not the quiet girl in the corner the teacher once described using the phrase "di makabasag pinggan" (unable to break a plate?). I dunno if this has any connection to this article but I know that I used to hate my first name. Who wants to be named after a tree? I didn't know the story behind the name though and now, I've learned to appreciate why the meaning of my name is such.

Things to do: (I love making lists)
1. Theo orals - tomorrow morning
2. Psy 101 presentation - tomorrow morning
3. Filipino dress rehearsal - tomorrow afternoon
4. SA long test - Thursday morning
5. Psy 101 long test - Friday morning
6. Filipino play - Friday afternoon/evening
7. Update ADS website (here) - Friday evening

Here we go, I guess I better get to it.

*traumatized and emotionally scarred for life*

Mom, dad and I went to watch a movie cause shoti had a party. In the middle of the movie, the film started to blur so dad got fed up and mom got dizzy and I got impatient so we all just left. Apparently, a lot of people already complained so we got a full refund! Then dad had dinner and mom and I got Ice Monster (second time for me to try it). I didn't have real dinner anymore cause I ordered pizza earlier today - cause I had hoped someone would visit but I ended up eating 2 slices, Justin got 2, and mum & dad got one each (this was after exercising nyahaha).

Anyway we got home and it was so funny - dad went straight to his aquarium, mom went to the kitchen and I went to sit in front of my computer LOL That says a lot huh?

My ACP is Exploring Dan Brown's "Da Vinci Code." The description is as follows:
The "Da Vinci Code" is a fictional book based on true to life facts that defame the Catholic Church. This book has become one the most widely-read in the Ateneo campus. This class aims to discuss the different possibilities and dimensions of the novel, to be able to clear up wrong impressions, if any. The talk will be held by speaker Odi Romanse. The class will end with an open forum.
The part I highlighted was what made me scared that it might be a preachy class. I don't recognize the speaker's name...

What a tiring week... it was either I had meetings one right after another or they were all scheduled at the same time (enough to make a girl crazy). Wednesday is an example of the former. My schedule after class was as follows:
12:30 - first meeting for HR managers (I went at the last part)
1:30 - meet Fil groupmates and go to Natio to buy materials
2:00 - meet Pinky for Psy 101 reporting (cancelled)
2:30 - meet Aimee and Ten for palancas and nuggets
3:00 - Psy experiment for bonus points
3:30 - second meeting for HR managers (I went to the first part)
4:00 - rehearsals for Fil play
Today was an example of the latter. I had to meet with Psy 101 group, Fil prop committee people and Aimee. Sooner or later I'm going to run out of gas in the middle of a highway.
I spent 12 hours in school today! Add around an hour for going to school and another hour for coming home and you can see how calling school "second home" is almost a lie.

But today was fun in some ways too. I got to sign up for the slot I wanted (Theo orals), that is, Wednesday 8-8:15am. I also was thinking of some ideas for an Amazing Race around Ateneo - with tasks such as riding a trike, finding a book in the lib, reserving a venue, winning a game of bridge and so on. It's not that I have all the time in the world, I just liked the idea. I also like the idea of making a Beauty and the Beast movie : Celadon version. Some personalities in Celadon really fit some roles. At the last part of the day, I also got to spend some time with Twin! And my Fil groupmates and I were able to finish painting two really big styrofoam panels.

Speaking of Fil, I'm inviting you guys to watch my Fil play called BAGONGBOMBITA. It will be held in the evening of Friday Oct 8. Admission price is Php20 or 2 cans of sardines. All earnings will go to Gawad Kalinga. Tell me if you want to watch! I will not be part of the play.
